This is a newly created full-time position, reporting to Chef Andrew Gold, ICE's Director of Student Affairs.
The Culinary Relations Manager (CRM) will manage and implement a range of activities which link ICE career students with the external culinary community, on-site at ICE, or off-site in the metro NY region.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Guest chef assisting, planning, coordination and hands- on event co-management
- Student volunteer planning & coordination
- Enhancement and development of new alumni culinary relations initiatives.
The CRM will be expected to work on a quasi flexible, mostly Monday through Friday, schedule. Attendance at periodic evening and weekend events, on or off-site is expected. The CRM will have the option to perform some of their work off-site and / or at off-hours.
Specific Respnsibilities:
- Guest Chef & Visiting Expert Program
- Assist all guest chefs in their cooking demonstrations in a hands- on capacity
- Plan and schedule extracurricular enrichment classes for career students
- Coordinate scheduling and internal operations leading up to the class or session
- Manage the entire demonstration including any food or beverage service from set up to break down
- Student Volunteer Coordination
- Liaise with organizations seeking student volunteers
- Solicit and schedule students for these events (over 100 per year)
- Visit career classes in session, frequently, to discuss opportunities and solicit students
- Provide oversight and ICE managerial presence at some of these events when required
- Work with entire Student Affairs and Services personnel
- Assorted Student Opportunities
- Facilitate and assist in periodic media opportunities that come about for students and / or alumni.
- Facilitate and promote as well as assist in student cooking preparation for other periodic student opportunities, such as national recipe contests or conference attendance. (Contests range from low-involvement student opportunities to
high involvement media driven events, held at ICE.)
- Alumni Relations
- In conjunction with ICE's Career Services Department, assist in planning and/or managing new ICE culinary alumni events, as well as value-added job placement and networking.
- Assist in planning and/or coordinating new social media techniques that will enhance and strengthen ICE's alumni relations goals.
Qualifications:
- Culinary diploma or degree
- At least two years professional culinary experience, preferably fine- dining
- Competent writing skills
- Strong organizational and communications skills
- Clear ability to motivate target population (culinary students)
- Broad knowledge and demonstrated interest in NYC's culinary universe
- Interest and ability to serve as an ICE "brand ambassador"
Salary range: $40,000 - $45,000
