ALLOWANCES & CREDITS (if qualified)

1) Double Diploma Credit
If the Culinary Management program is taken by a student in addition to the Culinary Arts or Pastry & Baking Arts programs, a credit equal to 20% of the Culinary Management tuition is applied to the second program. If the Culinary Arts program is taken by a student that has already taken the Pastry & Baking Arts program, a credit equal to 10% of the Culinary Arts tuition is applied to the second program. If the Pastry & Baking Arts program is taken by a student that has already taken the Culinary Arts program, a credit equal to 10% of the Pastry & Baking Arts tuition is applied to the second program. This credit applies to an individual and may not be transferred. The Hospitality Management Program is not eligible for the Double diploma Credit.

2) Out-of-State Allowance
For the Culinary Arts and Pastry and Baking Arts programs, a $2,500 allowance is applied to the Balance Due if the student's permanent home address (student's true and fixed home, to which student intends to return and remain) is in excess of 150 miles from the School. For the Culinary Management program and Hospitality Management Program, a $750 allowance is applied to the Balance Due if the student's permanent home address is in excess of 150 miles from the School.

The student must provide proof of permanent home address in the form of government-issued photo identification that has not expired (e.g., driver's license, passport, or equivalent). International students on visas will be reviewed for proof that they reside at the time of application to ICE in excess of 150 miles from the school and are relocating to attend ICE. These students will be required to produce a copy of a housing lease or utility bill in conjunction with a valid visa or passport to verify residence in excess of 150 miles from the school. An International Student's country of citizenship is not a basis for the Out-of-State Allowance unless the student is coming directly from his or her country via an M-1 student visa to attend ICE.

3) Prostart ® Allowance
A $1,000 allowance is applied to the Balance Due for the Culinary Arts or Pastry and Baking Arts program if the Student has graduated from The Prostart® program within the last 180 calendar days. A $500 allowance is applied to the Balance Due if Culinary Management program or Hospitality Management Program is taken and the student has graduated the Prostart® program within the last 180 calendar days.

4) Imagine America ® Allowance
A $1,000 allowance is applied to the Balance Due for the Culinary Arts or Pastry & Baking Arts program if the student was referred through the Imagine America® High School Program, Military Award Program (MAP), or Adult Skills Education Program (ASEP) within the last 180 calendar days.

5) Military Allowance
The Institute of Culinary Education’s programs are approved by the New York State Approving Agency for the GI Bill educational benefits available for active duty military members, veterans, guardsmen, reservists, and other eligibles from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as well the tuition assistance benefits available to military members from the Department of Defense (DOD) or New York State.  For the Culinary Arts and Pastry & Baking Arts programs, a $2,500 allowance is applied to the Balance Due after all applicable benefits have been applied and upon the presentation of appropriate military or veteran credentials. For the Culinary Management Program or Hospitality Management Program, a $750 allowance is applied to the Balance Due after all applicable benefits have been applied and upon the presentation of appropriate military or veteran credentials.

6) Travel Credit
A credit of up to $750 is applied to the Balance Due if the student travels in excess of 150 miles, tours the School, enrolls, and exceeds 6 days in the program, and presents documentation verifying travel expenses. The actual amount of the credit applied ($750 maximum) will be the amount of documented travel expenses up to $750 incurred by the student. Although travel expenses may exceed $750, the maximum Travel Credit available is $750.

6) Twilight Allowance
 A $2,000 allowance is applied to the Balance Due for Culinary Arts program classes held Friday evenings from 6 PM-12 Midnight and Saturday evenings from 6 PM-2 AM.  A $2,000 allowance is applied to the Balance Due for Pastry & Baking Arts program classes held Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 PM-12 Midnight.

ALLOWANCES MAY NOT BE COMBINED - THE GREATEST ONE WILL APPLY. THE STUDENT MAY RECEIVE ANY OR ALL CREDITS IN ADDITION TO A SINGLE ALLOWANCE.
