Domaine J. Vidal-Fleury Croze Hermitage Rouge :: Rhone, France
One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory dishes.

So enriched by sweet oak that its very deep, berry-like fruit takes a moment to catch up with its initial aromas of sweet cream, cappuccino, root beer and toast, this opulent Zin finds a niche all its own. In the mouth it displays bright fresh butterscotch.

Smooth Woodhouse LBV Port :: Douro, Portugal
This is one of the small secrets in port. The late bottled vintage from Smith Woodhouse comes from a small family producer who emulates the careful handling that only the most expensive vintage ports see. LBV is a soft and delicious Vintage Port with a good amount of bottle age. Aromas of dried cherries, spices and milk chocolate follow through to a medium-bodied palate with soft tannins and sweet fruit. Long finish.

Way more than 100% Chardonnay. This region is responsible for some of the truest expression of chardonnay the world over. One of the most famous vineyard sites in the world. The Puligny is know for it's complex and mineral driven whites. Very complex in the finish.

The finish sails on with minimal impediment from tannins.

For Generations this producer has brought us timeless bottling. This Chateauneuf is a big wine, with a wall of structure around a core of black currant, blackberry and fig fruit. Barbi is the producer that started everything when they were the first to export Brunello and also be awarded by the state. History is deep among this delicious producer. Brunello is packed with dark cherry and raspberry aromas that follow through to a full body, with loads of chewy tannins and rich fruit. The fruit concentration is impressive, yet this is balanced and in form.

There's beautiful ripe fruit in this, with pineapple, mango and papaya and hints of vanilla and honey. Full-bodied and medium sweet. Rich and round, with loads of cooked apple, citrus peel and spices. Long and flavorful.
