Private Cooking Events
In addition to all our regularly scheduled classes, the Institute of Culinary
Education runs a unique and fun private cooking party event. These special
events are great for corporate team building or entertaining, as well as
personal celebrations, such as birthdays, anniversaries, bachelor and bachelorette
parties, bridal showers, and special reunions. The format is a lunch or dinner
where cooking is part of the entertainment. While you will not cook from
scratch, you will learn specific techniques, and our chef-instructors and
assistants will be on hand to guide you. Our staff is prepared for both the
eager novice and the experienced home cook. The schools atmosphere
lends itself to learning and participation leavened with fun!
A typical event runs 3 to 3 1/2 hours: 1/2 hour for wine and hors
doeuvres, 1 to 1 1/2 hours of cooking,
then a sit-down, full-service three-course dinner where you all
enjoy the meal youve made.
Our minimum group size is 12 people and our maximum is 90 people.
Our largest kitchen holds a maximum of 40 people. For 42-60 people, we will put
you in two kitchens; for 60-90 people, you will be allocated three kitchens.
In each case, the group will dine together in one kitchen.
Who has been enjoying these private cooking events? The answer is
media firms entertaining advertisers, software companies hoping to
build cross-divisional
rapport, securities firms hosting their clients, pharmaceutical sales reps "team
building"after national sales meetings and law firms organizing events for
summer associates. Likewise, private cooking events have proven to be a great
idea for birthday, anniversary, engagement, shower, graduation and family reunion
events. And some couples have found that our events are a great way to entertain
friends, particularly when no one has a dining room or kitchen(s) as large as
ours!
An open bar of wine, beer and soft drinks is served throughout your event. Our
house wines (both a white and a red) are included in the price, but you can upgrade
your wine selection or add a premium liquor bar for mixed cocktails. Prices are
as follows:
- "Dinner (Mon-Thurs): $185/person
- Lunch: $165/person
- Dinner (Fri-Sun): $170/person
- Premium Liquor Bar: $15/person
A 20% service charge will be added. Staff gratuities are included in this charge.

will be sampled. Typical topics include Italian wines, Champagne or Microbrewery
Beers.
Our wine and beer tastings start at $120/pp, and our mixology classes cost $125/pp. Both have different options for food at an additional cost. Some events carry a supplement. A 20% service charge will be added.
