Welcome home (literally)!  ICE’s furnished Homestays offer clean, fully-furnished, private rooms in the home of a welcoming family.  These families are interested in learning more about you, and for foreign students, more about your culture and heritage.  Homestays are in safe neighborhoods in two boroughs of New York City: Brooklyn & Queens. The families who participate provide not just lodging but also understand the anticipation of being away from home in one of the most exciting cities in the world. These families are there to make your stay a truly enjoyable, cultured and enriching experience – and offer you the nurturing help and guidance to make your stay a safe and enjoyable one.

The Furnished Homestay option is for students who would prefer to be a part of the strong culture of New York by staying with one of its many residents.  In most instances, you will literally be a part of the family and live with people who are interested in your well-being while in NYC.  This is an ideal option for those who are on a budget or looking for a family-style stay.  This is not always the best option for those who are more independent or free-spirited.  In the application form, students are invited to state their preferences as to the borough, the neighborhood, the kind of family (with or without children), dietary restrictions, allergies, etc. so that an effort can be made to match interests.  However, we cannot guarantee that all guidelines will be met.

Through the Homestay program, lifetime friendships can be created resulting in a greater mutual understanding and awareness of each other's culture.  If you’re new to NYC and want a guiding hand in your experience, this could be the right option for you!
