Who should take this unique class? Those interested in becoming bartenders in "classy joints." It will supply a mix of practical information and history. You'll learn the cocktail recipes you need to serve as a bartender in top restaurants. Each session will focus on a spirit or group of spirits-including discussion of production methods and usage. Students will emerge with a thorough knowledge of everything from gin to grappa.
Topics will include:
Class 1: Gin, Vodka and an Overview of Mixology
Class 2: Spirits of the Caribbean and South America and Tropical Cocktail Mixology
Class 3: The World of Whiskey
Class 4: Brandies, Fruit Eaux-de-Vie and Mistelles
Class 5: Liqueurs, Cordials, Bitters and Aromatized Wines

If you'd like to expand your cocktail repertoire or want to brush up your drink-making skills before your next party, sign up to study with the king of cocktails, Dale DeGroff. You'll garner basic background about spirits, along with recipes for oft-requested drinks such as the martini and the cosmopolitan. Each student will be equipped with a set of bar tools in order to mix drinks along with the master. And finally, you'll be treated to a look back to the golden age of the cocktail and learn a thing or two about the quirky father of the bartending profession, because every bartender needs a few great stories to tell.
